General Outline
This contest will be open to anyone and include 4 separate categories for competition:
“Rooted and Rising” – A photo to match this year’s theme. This can be interpreted many different ways, so be creative!
Landscape – It’s what makes Wahkiakum beautiful, lets capture it!
Wildlife – Capture Wahkiakum’s wildlife as they graze, fly, and swim through our beautiful county.
People/Culture – What would we be without our community and the people that make it?
Participants under 18 will be in a separate Kid’s Division with same categories.
Rules
Photos submitted must be from within Wahkiakum County. To facilitate as many participants as possible, organizers have decided not to set a timeframe for competition. Instead, organizers ask for as recent a photo as possible, preferably one that has not gone public in any forum.
Participants must submit their printed 8x10 photo to the Chamber of Commerce Office (102 Main Street, Cathlamet) starting Monday, July 14th 8am to no later than 5pm on Thursday, July 17th. Any entries after that time will not be accepted. Photos larger than 8x10 will not be accepted. Printing will be available at the Chamber office for a small cost coverage fee of $10.
All entries will be available for viewing at our Showcase on Friday July 18th at 6pm in Strong Park (Cathlamet). Participants may also submit a small blurb explaining their vision of the photo, if desired (3x5 Cards Provided). Judges will include members and leaders of the community and arts.
Winners of each category will be announced at the Showcase. Winners will have their work displayed in the Wahkiakum Eagle, at the Wahkiakum County Visitor Center, and receive a framed copy of their entry with award ribbons.
